The side effects and conditions that hair products could cause

Let’s face it we all want to look beautiful and the first thing we do to achieve this is through our hair. Every day our hair goes through so much pampering, we colour, gloss, glue, heat and put new products on regularly without realising the risks that we could be exposing ourselves to!

Research has shown that at some point in their lives 8 out of 10 people will suffer from Dermatitis, and in the Hairdressing industry over 70% of employees have suffered from the work related disease. An employer has to protect you or you would be able to make a dermatitis claim against them. Even if you don’t work in the industry doesn’t mean you are free, everyday off the shelf products such as hair oils, shampoos, hair dyes and hair extension glues can cause a reaction, even if you have used these products 100’s of times before.

The main type of Dermatitis which is caused through hair care products is Contact Dermatitis. When a reaction is caused it can lead to the scalp, neck, and hand areas to become red, inflamed and itchy, causing cracking of the skin. Severe cases develop blisters and severely weep. Although Dermatitis is not contagious, it is very uncomfortable, unappealing and costly for the sufferer. Action must be taken as soon as possible to avoid the condition from getting worse. Although you may have been using a product for years it doesn’t mean that there isn’t a chance of contracting dermatitis. Its occurs when your immune system reacts against a specific substance known as an allergen; even the smallest amount of allergens you come in contact with can cause an outbreak of Allergic Dermatitis.

If you notice something different with your skin after using a substance seek medical advice as soon as possible. The longer the problem is left the worse it will become and harder the Dermatitis will be to treat. Creams and lotion can be acquired through your GP or similar products from off the shelf. A warm bath can often soothe the condition but avoid using heavy fragrances and soaps. Dove care products are specially made for those who are irritant and avoid scratching at all costs as this will make the problem worse.

Contact Dermatitis is avoidable – when using new products especially hair dyes always make sure that you try a skin test first and always wear non-latex gloves when dealing with strong substances. Moisturise after every wash and hand several times a day to prevent a flair up from occurring.

Looking beautiful may be costly but avoiding Dermatitis isn’t!

Theres A New Bond In Town

Hair Extensions In Leeds Available at Db hair
Lets face it, hair extensions look gorgeous they are a great way to lengthen your hair quickly and easily. Extensions can be applied and style in to a multitude of sexy and gorgeous styles. Hair extensions work by "hanging" in the hair underneath and are attached to the hair by clips or bonds. Clip in hair extensions are probably the cheapest and easiest to apply, as their name suggests they simply clip into the hair, because of there simplicity the usual way to style is to add interest around a fringe with perhaps a colour or streaks/highlights.

Rapture No Bond hair ExtensionsThe next method is hair extensions using bonds. The bonds are made up of keratin or a rubber based material then applied to the hair. This is done usually with a special gun that heats the bonds in its pincers and sealing them to the hair. With bonds a special shampoo and conditioner must be used as to not destroy the bond. With bonds, the application stage is really important getting the weave of and length of hair correctly straight and the bond attached in the correct manner as to not cause long term damage to the hair.
A new system has entered the market from Rapture these hair extensions are virtually undetectable, come in variety of shades to create great looks. They are available in lengths of twenty five centimetres for shorter styles and 40 cm for longer looks. Like most hair extensions rapture source the hair only from reputable sources.

Where the rapture system is different is that it uses strips instead of bonds. This makes them unseen to the eye as well as being unable to be felt through under the hair. Rapture extensions are light to wear, over time you as a client will start to not feel they are even in  your hair.
A rapture hair extension application lasts up to six weeks, using the correct maintenance procedures. For more information on Hair Extensions Leeds Please see this link or Call The Salon For A Free Consultation 01274 690909

Hair Straightener By Mother What Do You Get In The Box?

What's In The Mother Hair Straightener Box

Ever wondered what's in the hair straighteners box before you get it well here's a short video showing exactly what you get. If you are ordering or thinking of ordering the new Mother hair straightener this video gives you a fast insight into what you get inside.

We are really loving the styler in the salon it literally glides through clients hair. Once used I do not what to go back to my old stylers again.

Hair Straightener With Dual Plates By Mother

A few more things I really like about it:-
  1. Its digital temperature control which is different to other stylers I have used in the past. When you switch the hair straightener on it goes up per degree so you know exactly where you are a very neat feature in a hair straightener.
  2. Its clever heat covers which enable me to switch the plates easily. All you do is switch off the styler place the cover over the plates hit the buttons and remove and viola you click in the other set of plates. This is really great across different customers and also means I can get more creative on fringes and ends.
  3. Paddle plates this hair straightener has the largest I have seen not just a wider plate but they really stand out from other wide straighteners they have a great soft feel through the hair. I love these on my longer thicker haired clients they save masses of time and effort getting through the hair.
Available in the salon direct we also do a demonstration for them on your hair and can give advice on how to get the best from them once purchased.
